The Sleeping Beauty With 30 years puppetry experience to Joe’s credit, he has designed and performed with many different kinds of puppets. What you see in The Sleeping Beauty, is a beautiful marionette theatre performance. Marionettes are usually presented in special theatres dedicated to their unique requirements, so the fact that this production can tour easily, makes it fairly unusual. The Sleeping Beauty is Paperplays only marionette production. It offers the best in traditional puppet theatre, can tour easily, and play to audiences of up to 300 people. The wooden, folk–inspired marionettes are dressed in sumptuous costumes. They are between 60–75cm tall and perform in front of fantasy backdrops, which have been inspired by the famous British garden at Stourhead in Wiltshire. |

Paperplays Puppet Theatre is committed to cultural diversity, and the enriching and exciting way in which this shapes our world. They believe in producing top quality work for everyone in the community, and this production reflects these values. It is a family show, which is ideally suited to children aged 4 years old and above. It has some wonderfully funny moments and uses exciting, incidental music from Tchaikovsky’s classic ballet score. Technical information The Sleeping Beauty is best performed in a theatre, hall, school or at festivals. The theatre for The Sleeping Beauty is completely self–contained including sound and lighting. It can be performed both inside and outside. If outside Joe needs a raised platform, a wet weather cover over the theatre and access to 2 x 13 amp power sockets. The show lasts approximately 45 minutes and he encourages audience participation. He can perform on a stage, raised platform or flat floor. If on a flat floor he requires raked seating. Blackout is preferable but not essential. The theatre dimensions are: 4.5 metres wide (including masking curtains), X 2.5 metres deep X 2.75 metres high. H requires 1.5 hours to set up and break down the show.
